Week 24

I don't know what to say about this week. It happened. Sister Behunin and I worked our butts off. I still love our little branch. And we found an awesome lady this week. She studied old czech which means the book of mormon is easy for her to understand and she is loving it. Yesterday we were tracting a panelok and a man came out yelling and whacking us with his crutches.. so that was the event of the week. I kept telling him to cool it and that we wont knock on his door again. That was quite the event. Onto the next week.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMA. Hodně štěstí a zdraví!

Week 23

Hello All!

Hope you had a good week.. I sure did!  The suns coming out and I'm starting to think I had some seasonal depression. Everyone in the branch keeps asking me if their california misionarka is missing her sunshine. I sure am! But we had a great week. Sister Scerra and I went down to Brno with the Zmolkovi to see Teresie get baptized. We had been teaching her a bit here in cbud. She goes to school in Brno but lives in ceske budejovice. She was so happy she couldnt stop smiling. And this week.. Transfers! Sister Scerra is going bye bye. Ill miss that one. My feminist firecracker. She's moving back into the real world. This week she had a lot of goodbyes.. shes been her 6 months so it was sad to watch. the people here really love their missionaries. So on to the next transfer.. I get to serve with sister behunin! she is only a transfer ahead of me so we are going to work a ton and figure things out while we go. Also she came from Pardubice.. MY BIRTHPLACE. And this week a girl I taught, Tereze, got baptized. She gets to tell me all about it really soon. Love you all! Good luck little bro on your hockey tournaments. Im sad the sharks arent doing to hot.. praying for them!

Week 22

Hello again!

This week was great. We started it off going to český krůmlov last pday. about a 20 minute bus ride. It's gorgeous there. Its blocked in by a river so everything is old, they haven't built new stuff around it. On the way there it was sunny I said to sister scerra, i hope the weather stays nice. We got there and it was a flat out blizzard but then cleared up and it was pretty with the snow. This week we went to Plzen and Prague. On the way back from Prague on the train we sat with a mom and her two kids and for some reason these two girls were in love with me. so they came and sat next to me and had me read a childrens book to them 10 times. Czech kids are the cutest. On sunday we sang with this old lady in sacrament meeting. she smokes like a pack a day so it was really quite the musical number. I love her. And IN ENGLISH THIS WEEK my favorite old man who gives us apples every week just started reciting the raven by edgar allen poe to me. It was incredible! Sister Scerra makes fun of me because I always love talking to old men. I had a cool experience this week. The kind where you feel like you were supposed to be there and meet that person. Old man with a cane, i contacted him on english and then while contacting someone else he came and waited next to me until i was done talking. he told me he was sorry he remembered he has meetings during our weekly english class. We started chatting again and at some point he tells me his wife had passed away the previous week and that she was very sick. We talked about what happens after we die and just had a good cry together. He was really a sweet old man. Our friend terezie is getting baptized this week. she is studying in brno but lives in cbud so we've been spending a lot of time with her this transfer. Se we are off to brno on friday. Also I got news that another tereza sister frampton and I taught in pardubice is getting baptized the next day, so I won't make it. Really bumbed but super happy for her. Her and I are buds. Thats about all this week. Last week before I kill my companion (mission lingo for "she is going home"). Love you all. Have an awesome week!

Week 21

Hey Family!
Sorry for not sending a note last week, it was pretty crazy. Last week we went to Prague for training and also I had some visa work and we split it up with an exchange where I came back to Cbud with sister white who serves in Prague. She is awesome and was trooper that day.. it was a tough one but a good one still. When in Prague sister scerra decided to make it our pday after my visa work so we went to the spanish jewish synagogue and listened to a string quartet. It was amazing. I'll send you pictures. We also got some trdelnik of course and went and saw the baby tour. oh man the baby tour.. so really its just the radio tower they used during communism but after communism they just put a bunch of crawling babies on it. Like huge crawling babies. some with bar codes for eyes. it was pretty cool. ill send a picture of that too. This week we stayed in cbud which was nice. I used to love the travel but its hard to lose that much time in a week. we did a ton of finding this week and found some really cool new investigators. Another computer guy which are my favorite to teach. And we did a lot of tracting too which i love. its like trick or treating but we have the treat! anywhoos a couple divny experiences that are worth sharing .. an old man doctor guy let us in and wasnt really interested but fed us meat jello which was nice of him but sister s and i are still suffering. It reminded me of julie and julia when she tries to make meat jello and it keeps failing. his didnt fail but i wish it had. Also yesterday tracting a naked man answered the door. Apparently it happens a lot here in czech republic but that was the first time id been there. yikes. thats when i really almost lost the meat jello. Saw a ton of miracles this week. Right place right time kind of thing. Oh and Terezie is getting baptized!! She is from Brno but we have been teaching her this transfer. Missing all of you! You are amazing
Love always,
Sestra Holland
